From the popular Mercersburg Adventure Camp and sports instruction to academic and artistic opportunities and a four-week experience tailored specifically for students from abroad, summer programs offered by Mercersburg Academy in 2018 promise fun, enrichment, excitement, and skill development.
All programs (with the exception of ESL+) are offering a special early-bird price of up to $200 off the registration fee. Camps range in length from one week to four weeks. Early-bird prices are in effect through March 15, 2018.
Registration fees are inclusive of all meals and activities, and non-day camp programs also include lodging in one of Mercersburg’s state-of-the-art on-campus dormitories.
“We’re excited to continue to offer a wide range of programming for students from ages 8 to 17, and to showcase our beautiful campus and the opportunities available here to our families,” says Coleman Weibley, Mercersburg’s director of summer programs. “We always look forward to welcoming participants from just down the street as well as from around the world.”
Academy faculty and staff members scheduled to serve as instructors at different sessions this summer include Sean Crocker, head boys’ varsity basketball coach (Boys’ Basketball Camp); Glenn Neufeld, head swimming coach and director of aquatics (Mercersburg Swim Clinics); Kristen Pixler, head girls’ varsity soccer coach (Soccer Day Camp); Paul Sipes, head girls’ varsity basketball coach (Girls’ Basketball Camp); and Carl Stensland, head boys’ varsity soccer coach (Soccer Day Camp).
Additionally, Mercersburg alumna Katie Vickers ’06 is back as a co-director of the Performing Arts Intensive (with her husband, Albert Quesada).
New Enrollment System
Registration for the 2018 summer season will not open as early as in previous years; the Office of Summer Programs is launching an all-inclusive enrollment system to streamline efforts and simplify the process for parents.
“We’ve spent most of the fall reviewing and evaluating potential systems that make enrolling participants easier for parents,” Weibley says. “Our new system will give parents the ability to enroll multiple children at once, allow for automatic payments, and streamline any paperwork submissions.”
