Zoos and Shopping, Game Night and Casino!

As you may have guessed from the title, the past couple of days for Mercersburg Summer's English as a Second Language (ESL) camp have been exciting!

On Monday, after a session of working on their final presentations, ESL campers made their way to the Simon Student Center to play some games like billiards, table tennis, Monopoly, Uno, and many others.

Monday evening was a more formal affair, as the campers and counselors dressed up for a Casino Night in Edwards Room in Kiel Hall. Along with snacks and dancing, campers won games of poker, blackjack, roulette, and more for chips to earn their spot in the VIP section.

The fun continued on Tuesday as the gang headed to Washington, D.C. for the second time this summer. This time, however, they spent a good chunk of their day at the national zoo, seeing elephants, zebras, Andean bears, otters, and other animals.

After the zoo, ESL campers branched off on their own (in groups of three) to roam the shops in Georgetown for some relaxing and shopping.

The summer is closing quickly! You don't want to miss out on ESL's last few days. Be sure to follow our Flickr and Facebook pages for all the latest pictures and updates.

    • Making sure your winnings are in order is always an important step.

    • Card games are always better with friends...even if you are trying to have the better hand.

    • Billiards requires as much focus as a test.

    • Table tennis can get intense, too!

    • Lions, tigers, bears, and cheetahs, oh my!

    • Beavers are wild, too!

    • Retail therapy after a long day at the zoo.

    • The Apple Store is a great place to browse.
