Mercersburg Summer Programs got off to a flying start today, welcoming boys’ and girls’ basketball camp, and swim clinics. The campers were bursting with energy as they got checked in for the exciting week ahead. When we asked the kids what they were looking forward to the most, the majority of the participant’s answers were to learn something new.
Girls’ basketball is led by Program Director, and Mercersburg Academy girls’ varsity head coach, Paul Sipes, a team of coaches, and counselors. Coach Sipes told his campers that they will be doing a month’s worth of basketball in just four days. They got to work right away - tackling form shooting, ball handling, and many other fun activities on their first day of camp.
Boys’ basketball camp is led by Program Director Sean Crocker, a team of coaches, and counselors. Coach Crocker started off camp by working on ball handling, defense, rebounding, and screens with the participants. Coach Crocker encourages all participants to step outside their comfort zone at basketball camp because it will go a long way towards helping them to become better basketball players.
Swim Clinics are led by Program Director Glenn Neufeld, a team of coaches, and counselors. Participants were split into groups to review stroke techniques while counselors filmed each participant. This process helps to give campers verbal feedback and allows each participant to watch themselves and see where they can improve in the days ahead.
