These past few days the YWC campers showed that they are talented in multiple amazing ways other than writing.
First, they played a round of kickball and although it started off slow, the game picked up and became an intense battle.
Then in their afternoon classes, they let loose and danced. Counselor Jennifer choreographed a hip hop piece that the campers had no problem following. They caught on so fast that Jennifer taught them more of the piece than she had originally planned.
In another class, the kids drew on the pavements with chalk. To some it may seem childish or just a memory of the past, but these campers took it seriously and a few even made it into a work of art.
Finally, multiple campers showcased their various talents in the YWC talent show. Kids danced, sang, played the clarinet, and even recited a bit of poetry! Everyone was fantastic.

Young Writers Camp went on a field trip yesterday to HBP printing where they got to see how a work goes from an idea to a book! The great staff there gave the students, what had to be, an inspiring and eye opening tour of the print process.

Walking across campus today I was lucky to stumble upon the Young Writers Camp engrossed in a trust building activity. At first, I found this scene a bit odd. However, the group’s facilitator, Michelle Poacelli, informed me that the group was getting ready to read their work publicly, one of the most vulnerable experiences one can expose themselves to, and this trust exercise was preparing them for their showcase. In the picture there is a girl with a blindfold and her teammates are guiding her through the train maze only using words, I hope she made it!
