Young Writers
Our enrichment programs inspire people to develop to the full extent of their capabilities, and to excel intellectually and creatively. Each program also features recreational activities to supplement the respective curriculum. If cost is an issue, we offer financial aid to families based on need and merit. Young Writers Camp
Build writing skills and unleash your creativity in an electric environment that offers much more than a classroom. Explore the beauty of poetic style and the power of your own voice on paper. Language is at the core of life and our campers learn new and liberating ways to express themselves through the written word.

By combining an exciting range of activities with workshops, seminars and individual conferences, we help writers to think, and write, creatively. Mornings at camp are dedicated to style technique and command of language while afternoons are open to specialty workshops chosen by campers. Recreational activities range from rock climbing, swimming, tubing on Antietam Creek and field trips. The camp culminates with a reading of favorite works in the Hale Studio Theatre.

Staff
Our instructors are teachers and working writers, people who understand the challenges of the writing process. Our teaching assistants, who live with the campers in the dormitory, are drawn from the college ranks and are often students who are majoring in the field of writing.
Features presenters also add depth to our young writer’s experiences by working with them through the day, explaining their own works and providing a constructive audience to their endeavors. Recent presenters have included diverse figures of poetry, fiction and non-fiction.
To top it off, our staff collect pieces of writing from every camper for production in one of the camp’s prime publications: a literary collection, a poetry volume or a news magazine. All publications are produced and distributed.
