After attending a gauntlet of camp fair’s this season I have been confronted with many impressive programs with well wishing directors who appear to truly care about giving their campers an unforgettable experience that helps build confidence and lasting relationships and I wonder, amidst the maze of a camp fair and the hundreds of summer opportunities, what makes Mercersburg Summer so different?
Maybe the fact that we’re on the site of one of the most prestigious preparatory academies in the country and have it’s beautiful acreage and facilities at our disposal. Another draw could be that our campers stay in beatiful, air conditioned dorms opposed to a cabin or canvas tee pee that houses numerous, uninvited woodland creatures could be perceived as an advantage in comparison to other summer programs. Families may also take into account our adventures afar to Hersheypark, White Water rafting on the Youghiogheny River, a Frederick Keys Baseball Game on Fireworks night and to Cowan’s Gap State Park Beach as tremendous opportunities for their children to embrace the outdoors and bond with new friends. However, I would argue that our exceptionally impassioned staff from the Director of Summer Programs to the Junior Counselor are what truly make the difference in hundreds of kids lives summer after summer. If a parent entrusts us with son or daughter child for a couple weeks a summer we find it only fair to reward that trust by providing the utmost consideration for their child’s needs and desires as well as one of the most fun experiences of their life!
