Slippin’ & Slidin’!
As Session 2 of Adventure Camp comes to a close, our MAC campers have gone out with quite the wet & wild finish! On our last full day, the MAC camp spent the morning partaking in their Hurricanes vs. Tornadoes competitions–eating competitions, relay races, and all-around good fun were had by all!
As the competition (and the temperature itself) continued to heat up, our MAC campers put on their game faces & bravely went forth into their Water Wars competitions. Dizzy Bat races, sponge tosses, hoop hopping were just a few of the tasks our campers underwent before boldly slipping & sliding through a pile of green goop (despite its off-putting color, it’s really only banana pudding!). The final outcome? Hurricanes barely slipped by with a winning cross of the finish line!
The rest of the afternoon was completely dedicated to plummeting down the Adventure Camp slip’n'slide. Stretching down the vast majority of the hill outside the chapel, our MAC campers suds’ed up and took to the slopes! After a good coating of dish soap & a quick spray from the hose, they were ready to rock! Whether it was our MAC campers or our TAC campers, there wasn’t a frown to be found. Even when a summer shower threatened to ruin the TAC campers’ slip’n'slide time, they didn’t get their hopes down. Their sunny outlooks brought back the sunshine, and they were able to have a crazy and exciting time!
Before heading back to their cabins for the night, the campers made their way up to the campfire one last time, and everyone shared their favorite part of camp. There were many comments about being “campsick” once they left, and it was a beautiful homage to all of the new friends they have made during their 2 weeks at Adventure Camp.
It’s safe to say that these kids have made friends & memories for life, which is exactly what Mercersburg Adventure Camp is all about.
