Laundry

Each dormitory floor has laundry machines for students to use.  Quarters to operate the machines and laundry detergent are provided to all students, free of charge.  Counselors will be available to give instruction on how to do laundry.

Money/Expense

There is no need to bring additional money to the ESL+ program, as the program is all inclusive.  That being said, many students do bring money to use on trips, in the bookstore and at local restaurants and shops.

Bank

Mercersburg provides a student bank for all ESL+ students to take advantage of during the program.  Money can be deposited in the bank upon arrival (cash or traveler’s check) or it can be wired directly to the school(please contact us for bank information).  The bank is open on weekdays when the students are traveling on an excursion and every Friday after lunch.

Technology

Computer labs are available to students throughout the day and evenings; there are computers and printers in each dormitory common room for general use.  Both Windows and MAC operating systems are supported on the network and used in academic departments.

All student rooms have two data ports.  The school provides Internet access without additional charge through our network.  The use of modems is strictly prohibited; students connect to our network via Ethernet.  Students and parents should be sure that any computer brought onto campus has an Ethernet card installed.  The Academy will provide all software necessary to connect to the network, for email and the Internet.  All other software(such as word processing or spreadsheets) needs to be purchased by the student.  Note that all student computers must be configured by the Technology department before they can be used on campus.

Wireless access is provided in all academic buildings on campus, common spaces in the dormitories, and other locations on campus.

Phones

All students have a telephone in their room.  The phone may be called from off-campus and can make local and emergency calls at no charge to the student.  Long distance calls can be made from any phone on campus through the use of a calling card.  Phone numbers will be provided to students upon arrival to Mercersburg.
