What a great summer

Summer 2010 was a ton of fun. I have met so many new friends as a result of three amazing sessions of Adventure Camp. Every day my ears still perk up thinking I hear the sound of the MAC camp song in the distance or the pounding of tables in the dining hall, but it’s only my imagination. I keep thinking that I smell a s’more cookout in the distance, but my nose is just playing tricks on me again. I suppose if I’m going to have a particular batch of smells caught in my sniffer, it might as well be those of adventure camp. The countdown is already on for Summer 2011, can’t wait to see you here again. If anyone wants to visit, you can expect this face to be welcoming you with open arms.

Fortune Favors the Bold

I’ll be honest, when I was just a pup, I was the most soft spoken pooch in the pound. Singing songs at a campfire, performing a skit, introducing myself to a group of 60 some kids would have been terrifying to me.

That was until i found myself on Mercersburg’s campus during adventure camp. I started to feel like all of the counselors were including me in activities and I got to know everyone really well in just a matter of days. They weren’t just throwing me scraps either, I felt like I was a part of the camp. It wasn’t long until I was the loudest howler in the pack!

A pooch’s perspective

What a whirlwind! Session 2 is almost over and I’m gonna have to think about saying good bye to all my new best friends soon. Well, no sense in worrying about that now, there’s fun to be had! I have had the best time putting my nose in MAC and Teen Adventure’s business, and they don’t seem to mind! I got to go to Hersheypark the other day with Teen Adventures and I did not want to leave! Do you know how much chocolate they make there? I haven’t gone rafting yet, but I have a feeling its on the horizon… I just have to remember to tie my life vest tight, I’m not as buoyant as I look. All of the fun I’m having at Adventure Camp is enough to blow my ears back!

Back on the scent

You will never guess who is back sniffin around the old Mercersburg Campground… your favorite four footed pooch, Sonny! I was a little late for opening ceremony, but they still gave me an awesome greeting. Some were even shocked to meet me for the first time.

Almost 2 and a half days have gone by and I have barely had time to cool my paws off, there’s just so many fun things to do!! I’ve scoped out all of the enrichments, I even did my best to help out in Culinary Delights. I was a guest taste tester, I think I had a lot to share with the group in terms of technique! I’ve also enjoyed howling at campfire again, the s’mores taste exactly like I remember! Well, I better get going, the fun doesn’t stop around here and I don’t want to ever get caught just standing around!

Happy Holidays to everyone in the Mercersburg Summer Community! I hope everyone’s shopping is going well, and they’re taking time to enjoy the season. You know what would make the perfect Christmas gift? A summer at Mercersburg I think! Check out all the options for yourself here. I miss Adventure Camp, but for now I’ll try to enjoy the season as much as I can.

A+ Paddler

Good Morning Campers! I still can’t decide if one of my favorite Great Outdoors activity was canoeing or kayaking. I know its hard to pick a favorite amongst choices like mountain biking, rock climbing and horseback riding but I like to think that I was always one of the best paddlers in the boat! The paddling specialist, Jonny Dawes always made sure I had a good time and made everyone feel like they were special on the water! I can’t wait ’til next summer!

Happy Monday Adventure Campers! I came across a picture the other day of me and some of my buddies I met at Adventure Camp. Look at us, thick as thieves we were and I still keep in touch with them to this day! That’s me in the middle of course, with Rufus on the right and Leonard on my left. We would howl at campfire till our voices were sore, led the tornadoes to victory that year too, if I remember correctly. Who’s your best friend you met at camp? I wouldn’t trade the summers Rufus, Leonard and I had for the world. Who knows who you might meet next summer, could just be your very own Rufus and Leonard!

Hooray for the Pumpkin Pie!

I’m so excited about the Thanksgiving feast coming up in a few weeks, I’m already making plans. My first order of business is to make sure everyone understands what kind of pie I’m expecting. You guessed it, pumpkin. I don’t know how i could make myself any more clear! Don’t worry adventure campers, I have a pretzel pie costume ready to go for this summer.
