It’s the most wonderful time of the year, well, almost. Around here we’re pretty partial to summer too. In the spirit of the holiday season, Mercersburg Summer has released two special holiday carols that will hopefully help our campers reminisce about the summer days and get in a festive mood at the same time!

If you haven’t already, make sure you reserve your spot in camp using HOLIDAY10 for 10% off. This offer expires December 31st.

It was another lovely day in Mercersburg, PA when I happened upon two strangers in very snazzy costumes. Who would have thought that these two worked for Mercersburg Summer? If you think you’re costumes are better, send them in to us HERE!

The rain is turning Central Pennsylvania into an Eastern version of Seattle. It seems like the perfect day to post some pictures from Young Writers Camper Christopher L. Chris was a returning writer and was kind enough to send us some pictures from his awesome Dark and Stormy Summer. I hope you enjoy the following photographs and remember a fun summer amidst the dreary rainfall.

Mercersburg’s Campus has a different feel to it without the myriad of boisterous campers attacking every activity with a torrent of unbridled excitement and energy. The dining hall is a formal place, where banging on the table would get you excused and shouting at the top of your lungs is an equally serious offense. Classrooms are filled with students fastidiously absorbing instruction from Mercersburg faculty. These sophisticated spaces now housing intensive curricula ranging from the fine arts to science and math were once the site of adventure camp’s renowned enrichments where campers enjoyed exploring the reaction between diet coke and mentos in Old School Science Lab, an impromptu photo shoot in Digital Photography or the unpredictable slapstick of the Laugh Factory. Mercersburg’s expansive sports fields, home to numerous varsity athletes this fall, remember the days when hundreds of screaming kids and teenagers valiantly battled on their grounds for either the hurricanes or tornadoes in capture the flag, relay races, tug of war and unforgettable marathons. A campfire pit nestled in an alcove of trees tucked away in the back corner of campus recedes into obscurity content to rest and relive the nights of epic camp medleys, cheers, skits and camper testimonies. This place will never be the same, until next summer.

It’s official, MAC has ended for the summer! We’re sorry to see everyone go. =[
As you settle in at home, campers, check out today’s pictures! We have the pictures from peace wars and closing ceremonies… and they’re all on Flickr, so check that out! But in the meantime, here are some! First off, the new hit collection, Portraits from Peace Wars!

JAC also had their last day today. The JAC campers went rock climbing at the barn!

And then everybody got together at Burgin to attend final ceremonies and exchange some tearful goodbyes.

Goodbye, everyone! We’ll miss you, and we hope to see you next year!

Hey everyone!
This has been a CRAZY day! Crazy. Seriously. =P
We’ve been running nonstop between the marathon this morning and water wars this afternoon. The campers are going to sleep soooo well tonight… and so am I! =]
We started out with the marathon at nine, had lunch at noon, and then had water wars for a couple of hours… Oh, and there was slime. Green, gooey slime. I love slime. =]
I thought we’d switch it up with the blog today and try and get EVERYBODY in. So check this out: A Major Blogness Special… 72 pictures in a row. Crazy, right?
Check it out:
Also, we want to give a shout-out to JOHN.
It’s his birthday today, you know? Everyone cheered him on as he got his birthday cake in Ford Dining Hall.

John is a great kid with some unique special abilities… Like this one. Ball Balancing. =]

Happy birthday, John! =]
And to all you people out there, don’t forget to check out the Flickr, we put up new pictures all the time!

Today was a great day for the MAC and JAC campers.
MAC had a full day of outdoors. Here are some shots that were taken at “Wide World of Animals” at the National Zoo in Washington:

When everyone returned to campus, they had a theme dinner in lower Ford. There were some pretty silly outfits.

And all the senior boys and counselors got together to take some “bro shots”:
Then the campers all headed off to Hurricane and Tornado prep for their final songs and cheers tomorrow. The night ended with a movie (Swiss Family Robinson) in the Burgin Center. What fun!

The JAC campers spent the morning at an alpaca farm! I joined them and it was awesome. We learned all about how alpacas live and got the chance to feed them hay. Yay!

Camp is coming to a close…only two days left…but they’re probably the most adventure-packed of them all! The kids are in for some real excitement. More updates to come tomorrow!
