Looking for a rewarding way to spend the summer, or even part of it?

Counselor opportunities and director/staff positions are available with several programs at Mercersburg. The application process includes submission of an application, a resume, references, a Pennsylvania Act 33/34 clearance, and a personal interview, which is typically conducted by phone. Note: Mercersburg does not employ summer staff under the age of 16.

Employment Application Documents

Employment documents are provided via the links below, in PDF format. Download each form, complete the forms, and submit the documents to Quentin McDowell, Director, via email (as an attachment), fax, or by regular mail.

The Process:

  1. Download the Summer Reference Form (SRF) and the Summer Employment Application (SEA).
  2. Submit the Summer Employment Application and a Resume, via email, fax, or regular mail.
  3. Solicit two references and provide them with the Reference Form. This form must have a valid signature and can be submitted via fax, email as an attachment, or regular mail.

MACs Junior Counselor Application Process

Many of our outstanding senior counselors gained experience and confidence as junior counselors in the Adventure Camp programs. Junior Counselors undergo a rigorous training program and work with Senior counselors and campers throughout the summer.

Grade Level/Ages

  • Junior Counselors are typically rising 11th or 12th graders in high school.
  • Mercersburg does not employ anyone under the age of 16 for the summer.
  • Candidates who are under 18 years old need to secure a work permit for employment.

Experience/Salary Structure

Starting Junior or Senior Counselor
2nd Year JC position pays a minimum of $1,400.
1st Year Senior Counselor pays a minimum of $2,500.
High school graduates are eligible to move from JC to Senior Counselor positions.
