Session 1 has officially ended, and the staff here in Mercersburg miss their campers already. It was an unforgettable two weeks, and we are so glad we had the chance to spend it with all of you.
Cristobal is checking out some of the trading cards of the MAC campers. At the end of the session, they hand them out to their friends with contact info so everyone can stay in touch.
MAC played “peace wars” today with flour bombs!
The Hurricane and Tornado teams performed their songs at the closing ceremony.
We hope everyone had a great time, and don’t forget to check the Flickr page to remember your summer at Mercersburg! See you next year!
MAC and TGA spent most of the day getting soaked on the green grass of Tippetts Beach here on campus. It was the perfect way to spend a summer day. MAC campers played a variety of water games before moving onto the ultimate slip n’slide.
Later in the afternoon, TGA took over the slip n’ slide and flew down it over and over again. Inevitably a soapy mud pit formed at the end of the slide and everybody left for dinner muddy and smiling.
The Adventure Camps end the two weeks with an affirmation circle. One by one, campers tell someone in the circle something they appreciate about them and their experience together at camp. With each affirmation a ball of yarn is passed around until a web is formed. When everyone has shared something, their piece of yarn is cut off for them to keep to remember their experience at Mercersburg.
Tonight was also the final campfire. Campers sang their hearts out and enjoyed their last night together. We hope to see you all again next summer!
Today our MAC campers enjoyed a day out doing Great Outdoor activities before the MAC Olympics!
Onto the Olypmics, yea!
After we we’re all worn out from some awesome Hurricanes/Tornadoes Olympics, it was time to go join our Young Writers Camp and celebrate Independence Day with some fireworks!
MAC started the day off with a game of Catch the Counselor. Then they played the counselors in an epic game of dodgeball, and spent the afternoon at Hershey Park-Check back tomorrow for photos!
Meanwhile, TGA went to Greenbrier State Park, and it was perfect for a hot summer day. The campers splashed in the lake and played frisbee in the grass. As soon as we returned to campus, we were greeted by a viscous thunder storm and feared that evening activities would have to be moved to the gym (oh no!). But the skies cleared, and TGA had a laser tag party outside and played ultimate frisbee in the cool grass. As the moon rose, they ended the summer day at the campfire.
Mercersburg Adventure Camp and The Great Adventure have been having way too much fun recently. In their enrichments they have been putting mentos in diet coke, making slime, and carving watermelons. This is all happening in the classroom! Outside of the classroom, they have been rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, you name it! At night they have watermelon eating contests and sing-a-longs around a campfire. How do these kids get so lucky! And thats just MAC!
In the Great Adventure they have also been doing enrichments and outdoors, but have had a luau, casino night, and went to HERSHEY PARK TODAY!!! Too. much. fun. But hopefully not too much candy! Yesterday they had a hurricanes vs tornadoes wacky race entailing dizzy bat, water guns, and bean bag toss. It is hard to keep track of everything happening at camp and not get overwhelmed.
Mercersburg Summer is a one of a kind experience where kids from all backgrounds can come to expand their interests. Be sure to check out one of our programs today! Learn more!
