All the counselors of Mercersburg Summer camp gathered at 9 AM this morning for a trip to the Wilderness Voyageurs. The two hours spent in the car gave us some time to rest up for the white water rafting expedition! When we got there we got a 20 minute training and explanation of all important rules and hopped straight into the rafts! We spent about 3 hours rafting through various rapids with silly names like “School of Rock” and “Million Dollar Wave”, most of us survived…. Just kidding, no worries we are all alive and healthy!
This trip was quite a bonding experience for the counselors! Stay tuned for more pictures from the rafting trip, they will be up on flickr tomorrow!

This morning the swimming campers practiced in the Nolde Gymnasium. The camp cam team went to check it out and catch them in action. They worked on diving techniques:
They received instruction from Olympic winner Melvin Stewart:
They stretched and practiced perfect form:
And followed by example:
The swimmers were all very focused and were working hard to get the various strokes correct. But, overall, practice looked like a lot of fun!

The Counselors have arrived! Everyone is super excited for camp to start. We spent Monday training and getting to know each other and the campus.
We played games and learned about each other.
Yeah, probably the best job-training ever!
Aargh! Is that a pirate? Nope, it’s Tim, getting into the spirit of camp!
We finished up singing camp songs around the fire. This is going to be a GREAT summer! =]

Today we had the pleasure of photographing the wrestling camp that is in for the week. The kids seemed to really engage in the warm ups and lessons.

Also, a new herd of counselors moved into Tippets and Colbertson this morning. Everyone is pumped up for the campers to come. In the meanwhile, we’ve all been getting to know each other and taking part in training activities.
